New Orleans: T-shirts for Torists

This is the realness.  The realness hurts.  The truth hurts and I keep it real.  Tired of the fluffy puffy tourist t-shirts.  Well, I got the hard cold truth.  Printed on whatever cheap crap I can find at the thrift store or an Alternative Apparel basic white crew.  This comes in S, M, L, and XL.  $20 shipped.  Email for details.

Scarlett Johansson may or may not be a fascist

I was browsing around yahoo news a few days ago and noticed an article regarding Scarlett Johansson’s encouraging words to the young.  Go out and vote, let your voice be heard, the same bull that comes out every election cycle.  Celebrities are popping out of the woodwork with this vote message.  Do they get bonuses for this?  I’m sure some of these famous people are intelligent.  I mean, I'm no genius but even I know it makes no difference who gets elected. Business as usual.  Every four years we decided what color to paint the house but we neglect to hire an interior decorator.  Come on.  The two major parties control the system thus limiting competition.  Why do you think it’s so hard to get a third party into the game? That makes it easier to keep things headed slow and steady to the un-American dream.   A fantasyland where a republic is a democracy and a democracy a republic.   I read somewhere that the two party system was meant to appease teachers and Bozo the clown.  Is that true?  Listen, listen, what we have here is fascism. Corporate and government power has merged into one.   Why the hell is it illegal to sell raw milk?  Cigarettes or raw milk, which is worse.  Anyways, I think Johansson has a brain so she knows.  So the only conclusion that can be made is that she is a fascist.  Well, at least she is pretty.

Brewster McCloud vs. Where's Waldo

I remember watching Robert Altman’s classic Brewster McCloud years ago and having a WTF moment when I realized that Brewster was the inspiration for Where’s Waldo.   I never really cared for Waldo too much.  I was more of a fan of some other I spy type book with a fat kid in winter clothes.  I can’t remember the name.  Anyways, you can check out the entire film on youtube here.  It is best to watch it when you are depressed or you might bore yourself out.  The Brewster/Waldo connection hit me about 18 minutes in when the cop is trying to find Brewster in the astrodome.  I always had a thing for Shelley Duvall.

Remembering when the Yeah Yeah Yeahs were great

I remember when the yeah yeah yeahs used to be a great band and started to think exactly when they lost their luster.  It had to do with the drummer’s change of hairstyle.  Back in the day he had this sort of puffy fro thing going on.  It may have been a jew fro.  At that time Karen still had a normal, approachable weight too.  Then the drummer cut his hair short and Karen lost too much weight.  The last thing they put out worth owning was the master ep.

I saw them at the beachland ballroom after fever to tell came out.   the best part was watching the group walk around before the show.  Karen was too skinny but I liked her pants.  The green horns opened and I ended up leaving about 5 songs into the yeah yeah yeahs set because my girlfriend couldn’t stand everything being out of tune.  when I got to the show it wasn’t really packed and the crowd was just regular looking people.  Everyone had different clothes and just looked like average people shopping at wal mart.   When I turned to leave the place was packed with extra skinny tall people with tight black clothes and no emotion, like some kind of bulimic cult.  I felt a little embarrassed because I had worn a orange button up sweater.  Remember the good times!
